2 cans (12 ounces each) beer (any variety)
1 large onion, chopped
6 uncooked original bratwurst (such as Johnsonville, about 4 ounces each)
6 sausage buns, each about 7 inches long
6 tablespoons brown or deli-style mustard
1 can (15 ounces) Bavarian-style sweet sauerkraut, drained
