Ingredients For banana tea bread

  • 1 3/4 C Sifted flour
  • 2 tsp Baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp Baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/3 C Shortening
  • 2/3 C Sugar
  • 2 Eggs (well beaten)
  • 1 C Mashed ripe bananas

How To Make banana tea bread

  • 1
    Preheat oven to 350 F. Sift flour with baking powder, soda, and salt, and set aside.Cream shortening until light, add sugar gradually, continue to cream until fluffy. Beat in eggs.Add flour alternately with bananas, beginning and ending with flour.Spoon into a greased 9x5x3 inch loaf pan and bake about 1 hour or until loaf pulls slightly away from the side of the pan and is springy to the touch.Cool upright in the pan 10 minutes, then turn out on a wire rack and cool before slicing.
