INGREDIENTS
1 stick butter (1/2 Cup), softened
2 Cups sugar
2 large eggs
2 Cups buttermilk or sour milk (make sour milk by putting 2 TB. lemon juice or vinegar in a 2-cup measuring cup; add enough milk to make 2 cups)
2 1/2 Cups all-purpose flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 Cup COCOA POWDER (NATURAL or DUTCH PROCESS)
2 tsp. PURE VANILLA EXTRACT
1/8 tsp. salt
Frosting:
1/3 Cup cream cheese, softened
1/4 Cup butter (1/2 stick), softened
1 tsp. PURE VANILLA EXTRACT
2 Cups powdered sugar
