Ingredients For dilly green beans

  • 8-10 qt
    fresh green beans
  • 1 c
    salt (non-iodized)
  • 1/4 c
    sugary
  • 1 qt
    vinegar
  • 2 qt
    water
  • 1/2 tsp
    alum
  • 1
    head of dill
  • 3
    grape or cherry leaves
  • 1/3 pkg
    pickling spice
  • 1 clove
    garlic
  • 1 tsp
    red pepper flakes (optional if spicey is desired)

How To Make dilly green beans

  • 1
    Wash and prepare green beans and put into large cooking pot and boil 20 mins. Once they have boiled drain and let cool. Once cool pack into clean quart jars.

    Combine all the remaining ingredients in a stew pot and bring to a boil. After the spices have been brought to a boil pour over the beans in the quart jars and seal.

    Let stand for 7 to 10 days to pickle!
