Ingredients For bread and butter pickles

20 mdcucumbers, thinly sliced

10 smonions, thinly sliced

1/3 csalt

2 csugar
-
2 Tbspmustard seed

2 tspturmeric, ground

2 tspcelery seed

1 tspground ginger

1 tsppeppercorns

5 jar1 1/2 pint
How To Make bread and butter pickles

1Combine cucumber and onion slices in large bowl. Layer with salt and cover with ice cubes. Let stand 1 1/2 hours; drain and rinse. Place remaining ingredients in large sauce pot and bring to a boil. Add drained cucumbers and onions and return to boiling.

2Pack hot into 1 1/2 pint jars, leaving 1/4" head space. Remove air bubbles. Adjust caps. Process 10 minutes in boiling water bath.

3Yield: about 5 - 1 1/2 pint jars.
