These beer-battered onion rings are the most delicious way to prepare them. The beer batter is whipped up in just a few minutes, and they are exceptionally good every time!

Ingredients For beer battered onion rings

  • LIME MAY SAUCE
  • 1/3 c
    mayonnaise
  • 1 Tbsp
    ketchup
  • 1/4 tsp
    fresh ground black pepper
  • 1/8 tsp
    ground cayenne pepper
  • 1 sm
    clove garlic finely minced
  • 1 Tbsp
    lime juice
  • ONION RINGS
  • 1 1/4 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp
    ground cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 tsp
    ground cumin
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 1/2 tsp
    freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 tsp
    garlic powder
  • 1 lg
    egg beaten
  • 1 - 1 1/2 c
    beer
  • 2 lg
    sweet onions rough skins removed cut into 1/2-inch rings and separated
  • vegetable oil for frying

How To Make beer battered onion rings

    To make the lime mayo sauce, combine the ingredients in a small bowl and mix well.

    To make the onion rings, set 1/4 cup of flour aside on a shallow plate. In a medium bowl, combine the remaining flour, the cayenne pepper, cumin, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, beaten egg, and 1 cup to 1 1/2 cups beer, depending on how thick you want the batter.

    Heat the oil to 375 degrees F. Dip the onion rings in the reserved flour and then into the batter. Fry battered onion rings in the hot oil until browned, about 4 minutes. Place them on a paper towel-covered wire rack while working in small batches.
