  • THE SAUCE
  • 1/3 c
    hoisin sauce
  • 1/4 c
    fresh clover honey
  • 1/4 c
    tamari sauce, or liquid aminos
  • 2 Tbsp
    dry sherry
  • 1 tsp
    chinese five spice powder
  • sesame seeds, for sprinkling

    For this recipe you will need a Crockpot, Slow Cooker, or Instant Pot.

    Not everyone I know is a big fan of Chinese 5-Spice powder, it you do not have any, or you just do not like it, then leave it out.

    Gather your ingredients (mise en place).

    Remove the wing tips, then freeze and save for making stock. Finally, separate the drumettes from the mid joint. That will give you 24 individual chicken wings… YUMMY.

    Add the sauce ingredients to a small saucepan, combine, and bring up to a simmer, then remove from heat.

    Add the wings to your slow cooker or Instant Pot.

    Pour the hot sauce over the wings, and combine.

    Set the slow cooker to high, and cook until the internal temperature of the wings reaches 165f (75c), about 2.5 – 3 hours.

    OPTIONAL STEP

    Remove the wings from the slow cooker, place on a parchment-lined baking sheet, and place under a broiler to crisp them up, about 1 – 2 minutes per side.

    Separate the wings from the liquid, then place the liquid into a saucepan, and cook down by 50 percent, or until it begins to thicken. Then drizzle it over the wings before serving.
