How To Make party essentials: cast-iron, baked sesame wings

  • 1
    PREP/PREPARE
  • 2
I am using a cast-iron skillet to bake these wings; however, you could use a regular skillet, or even a glass baking dish.
  • 3
Gather your Ingredients (mise en place).
  • 4
Add all the sauce ingredients together in a Ziploc bag, or non-reactive dish with a cover.
  • 5
Add the chicken wings, and toss to coat.
  • 6
Place in the fridge for 4 – 6 hours, or overnight.
  • 7
Chef’s Note: Every once-and-awhile, open the fridge, and give the bag (or dish) a shake.
  • 8
Place a rack in the middle position, and preheat the oven to 350f (175c).
  • 9
Add the wings, and the sauce to a cast-iron pan, or whatever you are using.
  • 10
Place into the oven, and bake for 20 minutes.
  • 11
Remove from oven, flip the wings, and bake for an additional 20 minutes.
  • 12
Remove the wings from the pan, add the additional piece of ginger, and reduce the sauce over medium-high heat, about 5 – 7 minutes.
  • 13
Chef’s Tip: If you want the wings to be a bit crispier, place them on a baking sheet, and place them into a 375f (190c) oven, while you are reducing the sauce.
  • 14
    PLATE/PRESENT
  • 15
When the sauce is reduced, remove the added piece of ginger, then add the wings back into the sauce, toss, sprinkle with the sesame seeds, and serve while nice and hot. Enjoy.
