Recipe submitted by Barbara Hetfleisch. Barbara brought this dish to a pot luck of ours. I was surprised to see this in the 11x14 dish rather than a deep pedestal dish. Her reasoning was that this way you can more easily get all seven (or 9) layers much more easily - good point!!

Ingredients For seven layer salad (really, nine!)

1head lettuce

3/4 cgreen peppers, diced

3/4 ccelery, diced

3/4 cgreen onions, diced

1-10 ozpackage frozen green peas (do not thaw)

1 to 2 ccheddar cheese, shredded

cooked bacon crumbles to put over all

5sliced or crumbled hard boiled eggs
- SALAD DRESSING

1-1/2 cmayonnaise, not salad dressing

1-1/2 csour cream
-
2 or 3 Tbspsugar or equal
How To Make seven layer salad (really, nine!)

1Layer first 5 ingredients in an 11x14 glass baking dish- works best rather than a deep clear bowl.

2Spread the entire amount of the salad dressing mixture over the peas.

3Sprinkle the cheddar cheese over all, then a layer of the crumbled cooked bacon, then the sliced or crumbled hard boiled eggs.

4This must be made one day prior to serving. Cover with Saran Wrap and refrigerate overnight.
