Low-carbohydrate appetizer. You can fill mushroom caps with almost anything. This can be made with a variety of stuffings, i.e., shrimp, clam, oyster, cheese, or pesto.

Ingredients For sausage stuffed mushrooms

  • 3/4 stick
    butter or margarine
  • 1 pkg
    spicy breakfast sausage
  • 1 pkg
    cream cheese, room temperature
  • 1 sm
    onion
  • 1/2 c
    pepperidge farm herb stuffing mix
  • 1 clove
    garlic
  • 24 md
    mushroom caps
  • fresh parsley for garnish

How To Make sausage stuffed mushrooms

    Wash mushrooms, remove stems, place caps bottoms-up in rows on cookie sheet.

    Brown sausage until crumbly, drain fat.
  • 3
    Saute onion until tender.
  • 4
    Mix onion, cream cheese and cooked sausage in bowl.

    Add breadcrumbs until mixture holds together with stuffing consistency.

    Fill mushroom caps.

    Add a small parsley sprig and bake 15-20 minutes at 350 degrees.
