This recipe is from 1976 when this was all the rage-- there were many recipes for this , but my favorite came from the St. Michael's Lutheran Church Cookbook.Hope you enjoy it as much as we do!

5 lbmedium grade hamburg

5 tsprounded of morton tenderquick salt-(no substitute)

2 1/2 tspwhole mustard seed

2 1/2 tspcoarse ground black pepper

2 1/2 tspgarlic salt

1 tsphickory smoke salt-do not omit very important
How To Make mock hichory stick

1Mix altogether with hands until well blended. Cover and put in refrigerator overnight. Following day: Shape into 4 rolls, being sure they are solid and tightly packed. Place on cookie sheet. Place on broiler rack and bake in oven at 200^ for 6 hours. Turn rolls one quarter turn - every 2 hours. Cool on rack. Slice and eat. Delicious!
