This was a big hit at a friend's retirement party.
Blue Ribbon Recipe
These bacon-wrapped dates are a great appetizer. They're sweet from the dates. Bacon adds a touch of salt and smoky flavor. Then, the Parmesan cheese stuffed in the center adds a nutty flavor. Plan on an empty platter wherever you take this easy appetizer.

How To Make bacon-wrapped dates with parmesan
-
1Cook the bacon in a large skillet over medium heat until it has rendered some fat and begins to turn translucent. Don't let it brown at all.
-
2Remove from the pan and drain thoroughly on paper towels.
-
3Cut bacon in half crosswise. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
-
4Cut cheese into small chunks.
-
5Make a slit in each date.
-
6Stuff with a small piece of cheese.
-
7Wrap the date in a piece of bacon and secure it with a toothpick, if needed. Place the wrapped dates in a baking dish. At this point, you can make the dates immediately, cover and refrigerate for up to 36 hours, or freeze for 1 month and defrost before proceeding.
-
8Bake the dates until the bacon is crisp; 12-15 minutes.
-
9Remove from oven. Drain the dates on paper towels. Set on a platter for serving. Thin shreds of Parmesan would make an awesome garnish.
