Every time I make these they are the first appetizer that is gone. They are absolutely delish!

These scrumptious pinwheels are a delicious appetizer. They'd even be good for brunch. The sweet apples are a nice contrast with the savory dough and spices. Cumin adds an earthy flavor that we really enjoyed with the apples. Chopped cashews add a little crunch. The filling is wrapped in buttery crescent dough that's baked until flaky. Yum!

Ingredients For savory apple pinwheels

  • 2 can
    refrigerated crescent rolls
  • 8 oz
    cream cheese, softened
  • 2
    apples, any type, cored and chopped
  • 1/2 bunch
    chives
  • 1 1/4 tsp
    cumin
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 3 dash
    pepper
  • 1/2 c
    salted cashews, chopped

How To Make savory apple pinwheels

  • Filling mixture in a bowl.

    Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Add all ingredients except the crescent roll dough to a large bowl.
  • Apple filling completely mixed.

    Mix the filling well.
  • Crescent dough unrolled and in quarters.

    Unroll both the cans of dough and cut each in half. You should have 4 sections. Pinch together the seams.
  • Filling spread over the crescent dough.

    Cover with the filling until there is just about 1/4-1/2 inch left at end of dough.
  • Dough rolled and cut into slices.

    Roll up and pinch the seam. Cut into 6 slices using a serrated knife.
  • Pinwheels baking in the oven.

    Place on a baking sheet and bake for 15 mins or until golden brown.
