I was so hoping to get this recipe on here before this past July 4th, but everything was so crazy! This is something I made for a friends Americana party on the 4th of July recently. It's a quick and easy to make dip that looks so good! I had already made a flag cake and wanted to make something different. It's very tasty!

Ingredients For ye olde american flag dip

  • 2 c
    refried beans, either from a can or homemade
  • 2 c
    homemade or store bought guacamole
  • 2 c
    favorite salsa, i used ortega mild
  • 1 c
    shredded american cheese
  • 1 c
    shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2-1/2 c
    sour cream
  • 1 can
    sliced black olives, drained. i used a lg can
  • 1 pt
    grape tomatoes, cut in half lengthwise
  • tortilla chips for dipping

How To Make ye olde american flag dip

    In a 9" x 13" glass casserole or serving dish, layer the refried beans, smoothing it out to fit the whole bottom of dish.

    Next, spoon the guacamole over the beans, smoothing it out to cover the beans. Spoon salsa over the guacamole. Sprinkle the American cheese over all, then sprinkle with the cheddar cheese.

    Spoon on and smooth out the sour cream. Use a knife to outline a square in the upper left corner of the sour cream. and fill the square w/ the sliced olives. Arrange the grape tomato halves in stripes across, on top of the sour cream. Unless serving right away, cover and refrigerate. Serve w/ tortilla chips or your favorite dipping chips.
