My sister made these on New Year's Eve. Everyone loved them. I got her recipe and tweaked it a little to my liking. Hope you like it, too.

Ingredients For mexican hush puppies

3/4 cyellow cornmeal
-
1/2 call purpose flour

1 1/2 tspbaking powder
-
1/2 tspsalt
-
1/8 tspcayenne pepper, powdered ( can also use red pepper flakes, if you prefer)

8 ozpepper jack cheese, shredded
-
1 canchoppped green chiles, mild, drained

2 Tbspred onion, minced
-
1egg
-
1/2 cmilk
-
vegetable oil, for frying
How To Make mexican hush puppies

1Combine first 8 ingredients in a large bowl; make a well in center of mixture.

2Combine egg and milk.

3Add to dry ingredients, stirring just until moistened.

4In a dutch oven, pour about 3 inches of oil. Heat to 375F.

5Carefully drop batter by rounded tablespoonsful into hot oil.

6Fry a few at a time 3 to 4 minutes or until golden brown, turning once.

7Drain on paper towels.

8Serve while hot with any dip or sauce you prefer.
