This recipe is a variation of a similar Italian one that I enhanced to my taste over the years from being in North Carolina.

Ingredients For fettucini a l'americaine

1/2 pkgbarilla fettucine pasta

1/2 csalted butter

1/4 cfresh grated asiago cheese

1/4 cparmesan cheese

3/4 ccream cheese
-
1/2 chalf and half
-
1 tspwhite pepper

2 tspsalt
How To Make fettucini a l'americaine

1Cook pasta according to the direction. I always cook mine all dente... In the meanwhile in a medium saucepan melt the butter over medium heat. Gradually add the cream cheese, half and half and parmesan cheese stirring slowly until blended.

2Continue heating the sauce stirring constantly (I use a whisk)just until it reaches boiling point.

3Remove from heat and add salt and pepper.

4Toss hot pasta into the sauce. Sprinkle parsley on top if desired. Time to delight with my American variation.
