A super easy and elegant way to serve baked Brie. The store-bought puff pastry puffs and crisps and holds in the rich and creamy Brie. We loved that the brown sugar and pecans were added to the center of the cheese. The brown sugar melts with the cheese and is almost like a caramel. Serve with fresh apples and pears for a lovely contrast in flavors. Sweet and savory, this is an easy-to-make holiday appetizer.

Ingredients For brie en croute with caramel and walnuts

1/2 pkgfrozen puff pastry, thawed

flour, for dusting

1round of Brie cheese, 8 oz

1/4 clight brown sugar

1/4 cchopped walnuts or pecans

1egg beaten with 1 Tbsp of water

We also brushed the outside of the puff pastry with the egg wash and added a few cutout leaves to the top using the extra puff pastry for decoration.

1Line the baking sheet with parchment paper.

2Unfold the pastry onto a lightly floured surface.

3Using a lightly floured rolling pin, roll the dough out slightly to smooth folds.

4Cut the round of Brie in half. Place the bottom half of the Brie - cut side up - in the center of the pastry.

5Gently pack sugar on top of Brie. Arrange nuts on top of sugar.

6Top with the remaining half of Brie - cut side down.

7Trim pastry so there is only a 2" border around the brie. Reserve extra for decoration.

8Brush the edges of the pastry with egg wash and fold the pastry around Brie.

9Place the Brie - seam side down, onto the baking sheet. Bake for 20 minutes at 400 degrees or until the pastry is golden.

10Allow the Brie to stand for 3 minutes before serving with pear slices and/or assorted crackers.
