bacon cheese straws

My daughter has made these for our Thanksgiving & Christmas celebrations. They're a tasty appetizer. I'm posting this because I almost lost this recipe once already and need a safe place to store it! (From the America's Test Kitchen Family Cookbook)

Ingredients For bacon cheese straws

  • 1
    puff pastry sheet, thawed (9 in.)
  • 1 c
    parmesan cheese, grated
  • 5
    strips of bacon, chopped small
  • pepper, to taste
  • parchment paper

How To Make bacon cheese straws

  • 1
    Adjust oven rack to upper-middle position and preheat to 425 degrees.

    Lay pastry on a sheet of parchment paper and sprinkle the cheese, bacon, and pepper on it. Top with another sheet of parchment paper and use a rolling pin to press it all into the dough. Remove top piece of parchment.

    Using a pizza cutter, cut dough into 3/4 in (or so) strips. Gently twist each strip and bake on parchment lined baking sheet 10-15 minutes, until puffed and golden. Cool 5 minutes.
