My sister, Sherry, made these for me years ago. I think they are the best wings I've ever had. The name is very accurate as these are very sticky!

Ingredients For la brea tar pit chicken wings

    chicken wings
  • 1 c
    soy sauce
  • 1/2 c
    dry red wine
  • 1/2 c
    sugar + 1 t sugar
  • 1/4 tsp
    ginger

How To Make la brea tar pit chicken wings

    preheat oven to 400 degrees. cut off wing tips, reserve tips for another use. Half wings at joint.

    arrange wings with skin side down in roasting pan (I use a disposable aluminum pan for easy clean up) in single layer.

    in small saucepan heat remaining ingredients over moderately low heat, stirring until sugar is dissolved and pour evenly over wings.

    Bake wings in middle of oven for 45 minutes. Turn wings over and bake until cooking liquid is thick and sticky, about 45 min to an hour.
