My mother started making this for dinner on Halloween night as it was easy to prepare this dish early and it would stay warm as you answered the door for trick or treaters. I carried on the tradition with my kids. Goulash was served with coleslaw and dinner biscuits.

Ingredients For goulash (small batch)

  • 1 lb
    ground beef
  • 1 md
    onion, chopped
  • 1 md
    green bell pepper, chopped
  • 2 stalk
    celery, chipped
  • 10 oz
    tomato soup
  • 10 oz
    can of water
  • 6 oz
    tomato paste
  • to taste
    salt and pepper
  • to taste
    red pepper (optional)
  • 4 oz
    sharp cheddsr cheese, shredded
  • 8 oz
    elbow macaroni, cooked

How To Make goulash (small batch)

  • 1
    Boil macaroni. Brown ground beef with onion, celery and peppers, drain fat. Add rest of ingredients - except the cheese. Add to cooked macaroni. Mix well.

    Put all in a 2 qt. casserole dish. Top with shredded sharp cheddar cheese. Bake at 350 for 45 min or 375 for 30 min.
