I found this recipe several years ago. I made it when Lillie was here and she loved it, Dad did also. It is actually very good. The original recipe called for the steaks to be microwaved without the consomme' and not baked, but it is much better baked.

Heat the water in 4 cup measuring cup, add the beef boullion and dissolve(about 1-2 minutes) In a microwave safe bowl, place the cornstarch and 1/4 water mixture, mix, continue adding water and stirring. Stir in the mushrooms, and basil. Microwave this mixture stirring after each minute until heated and mixture is clear. Be careful that it does not boil over.

While the consomme' is cooking, in another bowl, combine the egg, bread crumbs, onion, Mrs. Dash, pepper and Worcestershire sauce. Mix. Crumble raw beef over the mixture and mix well. Shape into six oval patties. Brown patties in a skillet on both sides and place in a shallow baking pan. Put some of the consomme' in the skillet to get the pan juices up and then return to container that you cooked it in. Stir-pour this over the steak and bake for 30 minutes at 350. To serve place a piece of steak on a plate and ladle some consomme' over. Serve with mashed potatoes with a little consomme'.
