wassail
Your home will smell so good when this is steeping! This is a traditional drink that I found years ago in an old cook book. I have made it at Christmas for the carolers that came around and also for our Christmas parties. Enjoy!

4 mdlemons
-
1 1/2 tspwhole cloves
-
3cinnamon sticks
-
1/2 csugar
-
1 galapple juice, unsweetened

How To Make wassail
-
1Peel an orange and 1 lemon in quarters, (you will need the juice later). Poke the cloves into the peeling, set aside.
-
2In a large pan or a crock pot, heat the apple juice, cinnamon, and prepared peels until quite hot. Cover and simmer for about 15 minutes(about an hour in a crock pot). Take out the peelings and discard. You can also make this earlier in the day and let it sit and steep with the peelings in the apple juice( make sure you take it off the heat or turn off the crock pot and heat it again just before serving) Remember to take out the peelings.
-
3Squeeze the lemons and make sure there are no seeds in the juice. Just before serving, add the orange juice, lemon juice, and sugar to the prepared apple juice. Stir to dissolve the sugar, serve in heat resistant cups.
