This is a very old recipe. My Mom made this quite often for Sunday meals and my Grandma before her. We always had fresh cream because we had a dairy when we were growing up-it was so good!

Ingredients For gingerbread cake

  • 1 c
    sugar
  • 2 c
    flour
  • 1 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1 tsp
    ginger
  • 1 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 1/2 c
    molasses
  • 1/2 c
    butter
  • 2 lg
    eggs
  • 1 c
    boiling water

How To Make gingerbread cake

  • 1
    Mix together the sugar, flour, soda, ginger, cinnamon in a bowl. Add molasses, softened butter and eggs, mix well. Add boiling water and continue mixing.

    Bake in a 8" x 8" pan at 350 for 30 minutes or a loaf pan for 45 minutes. Serve warm with fresh whipped cream on top.
