heirloom tomato sandwiches

Mom's a tomato sandwich freak, she eat's them everyday! But instead of just putting butter or mayo on it...I found this recipe for her. Now I'm hooked on tomato sandwiches too after making this recipe! I think this would be great on any sandwich as long as a stalk of celery!

Ingredients

  • 1 - 8 oz. packages cream cheese, room temperature
  • 6 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons dill, fresh
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder with parsley
  • 2 tablespoons onion flakes, dehydrated
  • 2 tablespoons chives, dried
  • 16 slices bread (to your liking)
  • 4 large red heirloom tomatoes, cut into 1/4
  • 4 large yellow heirloom tomatoes, cut into 1/4
  • - salt and pepper, to taste

How To Make heirloom tomato sandwiches

  • Step 1
    In a small bowl, combine all ingredients together (cream cheese through chives).
  • Step 2
    Spread cream cheese mixture evenly over one side of 8 bread slices; layer with sliced tomatoes.
  • Step 3
    Sprinkle with salt & pepper to taste.
  • Step 4
    Top with remaining bread slices. Serve immediately.
  • Step 5
    TASTY TIDBIT: From red to yellow to orange & green, look for all types & colors of heirloom tomatoes. You can use any combination for some sensational tomato taste.
