I got this recipe from my mother. I love soft molasses/ginger cookies and these are the best I've tasted yet! Please note that the serving size says "makes 48, supposedly" That is probably true if you stick with the 1-inch balls of dough, but I prefer a cookie that is a bit bigger.

Ingredients For ginger krinkles

  • MIX:
  • 2 1/4 c
    flour
  • 2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1 tsp
    ginger
  • 1 tsp
    cinnamon, ground
  • 1/2 tsp
    cloves
  • 1/4 tsp
    salt
  • ADD:
  • 1 c
    packed brown sugar
  • 3/4 c
    shortening or cooking oil
  • 1/4 c
    molasses
  • 1
    egg

How To Make ginger krinkles

  • 1
    In small bowl, stir together the first five ingredients and salt; set aside. In large bowl, combine the remaining ingredients and beat well. Add dry ingredients to beaten mixture, beating well. Form 1-inch balls and place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 for 10-13 minutes.
