I love sweets. At holiday dinners, we’ve been known to have more desserts on the table than people in attendance. That’s normal, right? In honor of National Dessert Month, and to celebrate my love of desserts, I wanted to check out the most pinched blue ribbon desserts on JustAPinch.com.
With over 30,000 pinches, Sherry Symmonds’ Cream Cheese Cake Mix Cookies recipe is the most pinched recipe (that’s a lot of pinches!). Deliciously sweet and buttery, after one bite these may be your go-to cookie recipe. “These are good and so easy,” says Sherry. “Use your imagination – I stumbled upon this recipe after realizing just how many cake mixes I had in my pantry.” We used a butter cake mix and added chocolate chips. This, along with the cream cheese, turned these cookies into the ultimate treat. Seriously good!
Lisa Glass’ Chocolate Cake Recipe is one of the best chocolate cakes we have ever made! Simple and straightforward, this is one of those recipes that everyone will love. “My twin boys requested this for their birthday with one stipulation – they each wanted their own cake, just for them,” says Lisa. The cake is super moist and the frosting on top is just perfect. Be sure to have plenty o’ milk on hand… yum!
“My mom used to make this yummy custard,” shares Robyn White of her Magic Crust Custard Pie. “The flour settles to the bottom and creates its own crust.” Similar to chess pie, but this is prepared in a wonderfully unique way! With readily available ingredients you can easily whip this up whenever guests are dropping by.
Erin Latch’s yummy Chocolate Cobbler is a snap to make and even easier to eat. “This recipe is great anytime,” shares Erin. “I take it to family dinners and I fix it in the mornings to take to work for breakfast.” You get all the gooey deliciousness of a molten cake without all the fuss… Now THAT’s sweet!
If you really want to sweeten things up, try Donna Brown’s Crock Pot Candy (Mr. Bud Candy) recipe. “This is my daughter’s recipe that she makes for fund raisers, church, to give away on trays,” explains Donna. “An older man at her church named Mr. Bud makes it a lot and gave her the recipe, so they all call it Mr. Bud candy.” With peanuts and chocolate, I call this yummy. And you make it in a crock pot? Doesn’t get much better than that! It’s never been easier to indulge your sweet tooth… and I couldn’t be happier about it.
What can I say, Shannon Smith’s Oreo Cookie Balls are just plain addictive! Anyone can make these simple treats – kids, non-cooks, even bachelors! “I call theses truffles in disguise,” says Shannon. “Easy to make and yummy in your tummy as my kids say.” As Shannon mentions, you can customize these to suit the season (Halloween, Christmas, a birthday, etc.). You also may want to double the batch. No one is going to be able to eat just one of these!
This month, let your sweet tooth take center stage and enjoy a few of these sweet treats!
