When Nabisco created the Oreo Biscuit in 1912, we don’t imagine they knew how popular the cookie would become. Since they were first manufactured in Manhattan (at what is now the Chelsea Market), 450 billion Oreos have been produced and are available in more than 100 countries. The name may have changed going from Oreo Biscuit to Oreo Creme Sandwich and then Oreo Chocolate Sandwich Cookie, but consumers’ love of Oreos hasn’t.
