Just because the weather has turned cooler, it doesn’t mean all activities need to move inside. Fall is the perfect time to continue the summer fun before the cold weather fully sets in. If you’re looking for something fun to do with the family this weekend, consider these activities.
Apple Picking
Nothing says fall more than apple picking. Head to a local orchard and pick a bushel or two. Make sure to grab some cider and those delicious donuts too.
Bake Treats
What do you do with all those apples but bake some thing with them! You can find tons of apple recipes here. If you want to bake up a pie or two, try these fantastic apple pie recipes.
Take a Hike or a Walk
Soak in the beautiful fall foliage by going on a hike with the family. It’s a great way to get exercise and reconnect.
Create a Scavenger Hunt
A scavenger hunt is something kids of all ages can participate in. Here you’ll find how to create an amazing scavenger hunt for kids.
Visit a Fall Festival
Festivals pop up all around the country at this time of the year. Head to one near your house with the family. Typically they have face painting and games for kids. For the adults, enjoy the food, drinks, and shopping. You can start picking up unusual Christmas gifts from the array of vendors. It’s never too early to start Christmas shopping!
Go Tailgating
There doesn’t have to be a pro team in the area to enjoy a good tailgate. If you’re lucky enough to live near a college or university, head there for a Saturday and enjoy the fanfare. Or, watch the local high school team in action. You can check out some of our favorite tailgating recipes.
Make a Pile of Leaves and Play
This activity will cost nothing! Put the bigger kids to work and have them rake the fallen leaves into a pile (the bigger the better!). Once the yard is clear, everyone can jump in. For a kid, there’s nothing better than playing in a pile of leaves. Hours of enjoyment for the kids and a little less yard work for you.
Get Crafty
While on a hike or neighborhood walk, collect acorns, leaves and other goodies. When you get back home, get crafty! Pinterest has a ton of ideas for fall crafts with kids, but here are a few cute ones we found.
