Step 1. Cut onion (or whatever vegetable you are mincing) in half to get a flat surface.
Step 2. With the tip of the knife on the board, make a forward and downward motion. Keep a fluid motion going. Make sure to tuck your fingers while holding the food for safety.
Step 3. Pile your cut vegetables.
Step 4. Use knife in rocking motion through pile to get minced cuts.
