Slice stick of butter and place in a microwave-safe bowl.
Heat in microwave for 30 seconds. Continue heating in 10-second increments until fully melted.
Or, place a wrapped stick of butter on a microwave-safe plate.
Microwave in 5-second increments checking between each one.
Lower to 3-second increments as nearing desired softness.
