Now that the weather is warmer, I love to get outside and enjoy one of the many parks near my house. It’s fun to catch up with friends. I make sure to bring something special. These desserts perfect for a picnic are always popular.
“This is by far the best tart, moist, and delicious pound cake ever,” thinks Christina Haley (Union City, TN) of her Lemon Lime Iced Pound Cake. “I have tweaked this recipe until it came out perfect!”
Christina is right. The pound cake melts in your mouth and is filled with citrus flavor. I love the addition of lime zest and juice and a touch of lemon extract to the icing. It brings the citrus flavor over the top and is refreshing.
“If you love peaches and cream, you will love these cookies,” shares Debbie Deverill (Gilbert, AZ). “They are always a big hit!”
These Peaches & Cream Oatmeal Cookies intrigued us in the Test Kitchen. The dried peaches and white chocolate chips caught our eye.
One bite and we were hooked.
This chewy cookie has the flavors of a traditional oatmeal cookie, but then you get pops of sweetness from the fruit. They’re light for summer.
Another fruity treat is Kathryn Brown’s (Woodbridge, NJ) Chocolate & Raspberry Bars.
Very fudgy, they have a wonderful sweet chocolate flavor mixed with a layer of tart raspberry fruit spread. Melted dark chocolate is drizzled over them and topped with a fresh raspberry. Place them in a resealable container, and they’re easily transportable.
“I love malt in anything and everything,” reveals Erin Ellefsen (Eugene, OR). “The hint of malt in the base, the chocolate of the chips, and the crunch of the Whoppers put these blondies over the top.”
These Peabody’s Malted Blondies are a nice change from traditional blondies. They are a cross between a brownie and a blondie, so you have the best of both worlds.
With a crinkly sugar top and a gooey middle, these bars are so good. Adding Whoppers is a crunchy surprise.
“These are sweet and salty and very addicting,” Kristin Miller (Hampton, IA) says of her Chubby Hubby Bars.
In each bite, you taste bits of sweet chocolate, peanut butter chips, and salty pretzels. It’s a delicious play on the flavors of the famous ice cream. If salty and sweet is your thing, you’ll adore this dessert.
