I am ready for some football and ALL the yummy food that goes along with the game day. Buffalo wings are traditional but not everyone in my house likes them (crazy, I know). So, I want to make non-Buffalo chicken wing recipes for our first game day of the season. Take your game day fare to the next level with these finger-lickin’ good chicken wings.
“Wait until you sink your teeth into these wings,” exclaims Barbara Miller (Oakdale, MN) of her Exotic Five Spice Chicken Wings. “They are sweet, salty, spicy, gooey… they have every flavor element you could ever want.”
Slightly sweet and sticky, these wings are loaded with flavor. The Asian accents are there but not overwhelming. These baked chicken wings do have a little kick, but they’re not too hot.
“I really wanted a wing recipe that would take away the greasiness of frying in oil or baking using the racks and sheet pans,” explains Jennifer S. (Philadelphia, PA). “I wanted the flavor to be punched up so I brined and rubbed.”
What Jennifer came up with was her Air Fryer Chicken Wings recipe. If you’ve never made wings in your air fryer, you need to. It makes the wings extra crispy without the guilt.
These wings pack a punch of delicious flavor. The rub is filled with chili powder, paprika, onion, garlic, cayenne, salt, pepper, and a touch of brown sugar.
For dipping, Jennifer came up with a sweet and spicy sauce that you’ll lick off your fingers.
“Hot wings are so common, yet this recipe really stands out for our family,” shares Michelle Wolf (Berlin, NJ). “We love them and we put the sauce on every type of chicken, not just wings.”
Michelle’s wing sauce on her Favorite Garlic Parm Wings is fabulous. It’s buttery and creamy with lots of Parmesan flavor; the garlic is not very strong.
If you want a stronger garlic flavor, add a bit of garlic powder to pump up the flavor. A bit sweeter, add honey as Michelle suggests.
Iris McCall’s (Chicago, IL) Butter Baked Chicken Wings turn out crispy and super juicy.
“These wings are simple, quick, easy, and good,” thinks Iris and that’s a great way to describe them.
Pats of butter are roasted on top of the seasoned wings. The butter mixed with onion powder, garlic, pepper, and paprika creates a sauce while they bake.
Make sure to pour the juices over the baked wings before you dive in. So good!
“This is one of my own recipes I created,” reveals Nor Mac. “I bring them to a lot of parties. You can make them hot or not as hot if you want.”
Nor’s Cranberry Sweet Hot Wings are sweet, tangy, moist, and tender. The wings are partially baked in the oven and then added to a slow cooker to soak in the beautiful sauce.
Made from canned cranberry sauce, Dijon mustard, orange juice, soy sauce, honey, brown sugar, and a bunch of spices, I love the flavors in the sauce. The meat just falls off the bone after simmering.
These finger-lickin’ good chicken wings are so tasty you’ll be making them all season long. But, if you don’t find a winner here, check out our chicken wings recipe collection for more ideas. Happy Pinching!
