Decadent and creamy, it’s hard to pass up a slice of cheesecake. There are many types of cheesecake, but traditionally it has a graham cracker or cookie crust and is made with cheese like cream cheese or ricotta.
While delicious, sometimes it’s nice to break with tradition and we found untraditional cheesecake recipes that’ll delight everyone.
“[This is a] super sweet and yummy dessert that you can change up with colors to celebrate whatever you want,” explains Theresa Preece’s (Grayson, KY) of her Brownie Cheesecake Swirl recipe.
We opted to go with spring colors, but the combinations are endless. Christmas, Halloween, Fourth of July… this is so yummy you’ll be making it for every holiday. I loved the crunchy bottom brownie crust. Combined with the filling it’s delicious.
From the creaminess of the cheesecake to the chocolate chip layer and the brownies, I loved every bite of Jenny White’s (Great Falls, MT) Peanut Butter Cheesecake Brownie Pie. “I wanted to make dessert the other night so I looked in the fridge to see what I had,” shares Jenny. “This is really easy and quick to make.”
Jenny jokes, “the hardest part is letting it cool” and she’s right. The cheesecake is sandwiched in between two layers of a peanut butter cheesecake and it’s delightful. This is great for anyone who loves peanut butter and chocolate.
If your taste buds favor something just chocolate, try Annamaria Settanni McDonald’s (Brooklyn, OH) Chocolate Truffle Cheesecake. “This cheesecake is always on the top of the list of my cheesecakes to make,” says Annamaria. “It covers the cravings of chocolate and cheesecake all at once.”
This recipe is a favorite of Annamaria’s family and of mine too. The different shades of decadent chocolate make this cheesecake a picture-perfect dessert. I would normally suggest serving this to impress important guests, but really I recommending serving this at every opportunity!
“So creamy it melts in your mouth,” is how Ilean Maite Benvenuti (Philadelphia, PA) describes her Chocolate Chip Cheesecake with Oreo Crust. Creamy and delicious, cravings for this amazing cake are bound to sneak up on you when you least expect it.
Kimberly Mauro (Stockbridge, GA) made this cheesecake for her son’s birthday and it was a hit. In fact, she shared “his best friend said it was the best cheesecake he has ever eaten.” Be prepared with ingredients for when your sweet tooth comes calling.
“I made this Amarula Cheesecake for a couple of friends coming by for coffee,” explains V Seward (Hanford, CA). “Their reaction to this dessert was amazing and I knew I had a hit. Believe it or not, the three of us ate the whole cheesecake in one sitting. It was so delicious we couldn’t stop ourselves.”
If you’re not familiar with Amarula, it’s a South African liqueur. As V describes, “it has hints of chocolate, vanilla, and caramel.” If you like Bailey’s Irish Cream, I think you’ll like the flavors this liqueur adds to the cheesecake. The consistency is quite light and creamy, reminiscent of a wonderful flan or caramel custard. It’s unusual and heavenly.
