New Year’s Eve Across the Country

We all know about the famous New Year’s Eve Times Square Ball Drop, but what happens in the rest of the country? There doesn’t seem to be any other giant LED-lit balls falling down a flag pole in other cities across the US, but there are tons of great parties with fireworks!

From the east to the west, here is what you might be doing if you lived in these major cities:

Los Angeles

Los Angeles, like other big cities, doesn’t just have one option to choose from on New Year’s Eve. There are events to fit just about anyone’s preferences and budget. One of the most popular parties is aboard the Queen Mary. Ticket holders celebrate the New Year aboard a fabulous ship under a fireworks-filled sky!

Nashville

Nashville has been a city that seems to be on every “it list” these days. This year, they are hosting one rocking night of music headlined by Keith Urban. Hosted at the Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park, there will be additional musical acts (like Charlie Worsham and A Thousand Horses), fireworks, vendors, food trucks and a great view of the Nashville skyline. No ball drop here. In Music City, a 15-foot tall music note is dropped at the stroke of midnight. Event site opens at 4pm and is open to all ages.

Philadelphia

If you are visiting Philadelphia, there is a good chance you want to brave the cold to join the celebration on the waterfront. They have all the entertainment, live music, food and drinks you could want. You can even watch fireworks while gliding across an ice skating rink! If you get cold, you can just head inside the giant tent to get warm and continue the party. And if you want to party hard, you might arrange to be at the Sugar House casino at the waterfront. Partying at the casino means an open bar, live music, and front row seats to both fireworks show (6 pm and midnight).

Chicago

If you are in the windy city, you might be out at the Navy Pier or even on a cruise when the clock strikes midnight. The Navy Pier has been delighting guests for 100 years and traditionally goes all out to show attendees the best night of their lives!

Other Cities

Across the US, it seems people like to party on the water. Head to the most popular, largest, well-known body of water and you’ll likely to find a party. Rivers, lakes, beaches and backyard pools are the spot to be on New Year’s Eve!
