This salad goes with just about any meal. It can be made ahead of time. It is even better the next day.

Ingredients For broccoli and cauliflower salad

  • 8 slice
    bacon fried, or you can use bacon bits
  • 1 bunch
    broccoli florets (small bite size pieces)
  • 1 bunch
    cauliflower, small florets (small bite size pieces)
  • 1 1/2 c
    cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1/2
    purple or red onion chopped
  • 1/2 c
    red wine vinegar
  • 1/4 c
    sugar
  • 1 1/3 c
    mayonnaise
  • 2 tsp
    lemon juice, fresh
  • salt and pepper to taste

How To Make broccoli and cauliflower salad

    Place bacon in a large, deep skillet. Cook over medium high heat until evenly brown. Drain, and crumble.

    In a large bowl, combine broccoli, cauliflower, cheese, bacon and onion.

    Prepare the dressing in a small bowl by whisking together the red wine vinegar, sugar, pepper, salt, mayonnaise and lemon juice.

    Combine dressing with salad. Cover, and refrigerate until ready to serve.
