The next time you're craving take-out, make this slow cooker sesame chicken instead. It's as good as any restaurant and less expensive to make at home. The chicken breasts are extremely tender after slow cooking. The sauce is savory with a hint of sweetness. Sesame seeds sprinkled on top add a touch of nutty flavor. Serve over white rice for an Asian-inspired meal.

Ingredients For slow cooker sesame chicken

  • 1 1/2 lb
    boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1/2 c
    honey
  • 1/4 c
    soy sauce
  • 2 Tbsp
    dried onion
  • 2 Tbsp
    ketchup
  • 1 Tbsp
    oil
  • 1/2 tsp
    garlic powder
  • 2 tsp
    corn starch dissolved in 3 Tbsp water
  • sesame seeds

How To Make slow cooker sesame chicken

  • Chicken breasts in a slow cooker.

    Put the chicken into a Crock Pot.
  • Honey, soy sauce, onion, ketchup, oil, and garlic in a bowl.

    Combine honey, soy sauce, onion, ketchup, oil, and garlic.
  • Marinade poured over the chicken.

    Pour over the chicken. Cook on low for 3-4 hours or on high for 1 1/2 – 2 1/2 hours or just until chicken is cooked through.
  • Cooked chicken removed from slow cooker.

    Remove the chicken from the Crock Pot and leave sauce.
  • Corn starch and water in a bowl.

    Dissolve 2 teaspoons of corn starch in 3 tablespoons of water.
  • Pouring corn starch mixture into the slow cooker.

    Pour into the Crock Pot. Stir to combine with sauce. Replace the lid and cook the sauce on high for ten more minutes or until slightly thickened.
  • Chicken cut into bite-sized pieces.

    Cut chicken into bite-size pieces.
  • Chicken added back to slow cooker with sauce.

    Return the chicken to the Crock Pot and stir with the sauce. When serving, sprinkle with sesame seeds and serve over rice.
