I do not remember where this recipe came from; it is a supreme appetizer and must be shared w/ my friends. It makes for a very elegant presentation on your holiday table. The recipe name is mine as I do not know the original name. Adding shrimp and crab to a classic nacho mixture of melted cheese and jalapenos makes for the perfect special occasion appetizer. It is so good you will want to make it THE dinner!

Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 1 pound small to medium shrimp, peeled/deveined and tails removed
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon (or more, to taste) minced garlic
  • 1 pound jumbo lump crabmeat, cleaned and picked
  • 3/4 cup sour cream
  • 1 bunch green onions, sliced
  • 1 - (9 ounce bag) fine quality tortilla chips; yellow, white, or blue
  • 3 cups pepper jack cheese, shredded
  • 3/4 cup pickled jalapeno, sliced

How To Make special occasion seafood nachos

  • Step 1
    Heat oil in skillet over medium heat. Add shrimp, cumin, and garlic. Saute 3 minutes or until shrimp is pink.
  • Step 2
    Combine cooked shrimp, crab meat, sour cream, and onions in a large bowl.
  • Step 3
    Spread tortilla chips on parchment lined baking sheet. Top w/ seafood mixture. Sprinkle w/ cheese and top w/ jalapenos.
  • Step 4
    Broil 5 to 6 inches away from heat for 2-3 minutes or until cheese melts. Transfer to serving platter and serve warm.
